Halter Training
The first step in halter training an alpaca is to have a halter that fits properly. You’ll learn how to properly fit a halter so your alpaca can concentrate on learning. Then we’ll create an environment where learning is easy. It’s a lot of “horse sense” that works!
General Husbandry
Toenails that have not been trimmed can actually affect your alpaca’s conformation, health and be very uncomfortable. You will learn how to properly trim toenails.
You’ll also learn about your ‘paca’s poo—what’s normal, what’s not.
Parasites can be deadly, but so can over worming. What’s a person to do? You’ll find out the latest theories on parasites and how to control them.
You’ll learn about teeth. What is a “good bite” and when to call the “dentist”. You’ll also learn about fighting teeth, molars and abscesses.
Setting Up “Farm”
There’s no right or wrong way to set up your farm, but there are tips and tricks that you may find helpful. We’ll look at fencing and barn layout from the basics to the “WOW!” You’ll get a list of basic equipment that you need to get started and where to find it.
We’ll also discuss record keeping options so you can choose the method that works best for you. |
